Hyderabad: In a daring and scary incident, a dentist in Telangana was abducted from her home on the day she was scheduled to get engaged.
In a video clip which has gone viral, a mob of around 50 men is seen forcibly entering a house and kidnapping a 24-year-old woman.
The woman, identified as Vaishali, has been rescued after a police operation lasting a few hours, and some of the accused have been nabbed as well, though the main accused is still on the run.
According to Vaishali’s family, one Naveen Reddy had allegedly been harassing the woman to marry her. Coming to know that she was about to get engaged to someone else, Naveen allegedly led a mob and abducted her from her house in Adibatla village of Ranga Reddy district, near Hyderabad.
Naveen, who has a franchise for a branded tea store, put up a glass-walled cafe opposite Vaishali’s residence from where he monitored her movement.
The woman’s parents told police that around 100 men barged into their house and forcibly took their daughter away. In the video, 30-40 men can be seen vandalising the house, smashing car windows, dragging a man out of the house and beating him up with sticks and rods.

NDTV quoted policepersons as saying that Vaishali is a dentist and daughter of an ex-Armyman. She had met Naveen at a badminton court and the two had got close. Naveen is said to have bought her a car and proposed marriage, but Vaishali rejected him.
Naveen then harassed her on Instagram and other social media platforms, following which she filed a police complaint alleging stalking.
Naveen’s men on Friday took Vaishali away to teach her a ‘lesson’, but subsequently decided to release her.
