Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Senior BJP Leader Ram Madhav Under Self-Quarantine

New Delhi: Upon learning that BJP’s J&K unit president Ravinder Raina had tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, Union Minister Jitendra Singh and BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav have also put themselves under self-quarantine, reported India Today.

They did so as a precautionary measure. All three had recently travelled together to Bandipora in Kashmir, said the report.

In a tweet, Jitendra Singh said, “Have gone into self-quarantine with immediate effect from 4 PM today, after receiving the news about Corona positive test of J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina who had accompanied us from Srinagar to Bandipora on July 12 (sic).”

As for Ram Madav, he said in his tweet that though he has tested negative for COVID-19 five times in the last two weeks, he is still putting himself under self-quarantine for precaution, said the report.

“Am quarantining myself for a few days since my colleague and BJP J&K president Ravinder Raina tested positive for coronavirus today and I was with him 48 hrs ago in Srinagar. I tested negative for Covid-19 five times in last two weeks. Yet taking precautions to ensure safety of me and others,” Ram Madhav said in a tweet.

The report further said that Ravinder Raina said he had mild fever but no other symptom so he decided to get tested for COVID-19.

“Dear friends, I was staying in Bandipora in Kashmir for five days after militants killed BJP leaders Wasim Bari, Umar Sultan and his father. Today, I had a mild fever. I got tested for Covid-19 and my report is positive. I do not have any other symptom.”

The trio had visited Bandipora with other national and state BJP leaders to express condolences to the family of the BJP leader who was killed along with his father and brother by militants.
