New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has achieved a major breakthrough in the NEET paper leak case with the arrest of Rocky alias Rakesh Ranjan, believed to be the mastermind of the operation. Rocky was apprehended from Jharkhand, according to reliable sources. He has been identified as a close relative of Sanjeev Mukhiya, indicating his alleged pivotal role in the paper leak conspiracy.
Rocky was presented before the court where the CBI secured a 10-day police custody for further interrogation and investigation. His arrest follows the recent apprehension of two other suspects, Sunny from Nalanda and Ranjeet from Gaya, both connected to the case. Sunny is reported to be an examinee, while Ranjeet is the father of another candidate. The CBI obtained a 6-day remand for them on Wednesday, during which Rocky’s location was reportedly pinpointed.
The CBI’s investigation revealed that Chintu, previously in CBI custody and now in jail, implicated Rocky during interrogation. Chintu allegedly received the leaked papers from Sanjeev Mukhiya, who transmitted them to Chintu’s mobile phone. Subsequently, Chintu and Rocky allegedly engaged MBBS students to solve the papers, after which they distributed the questions and answers to candidates at Learn Play School in Patna.
Meanwhile, the special CBI court extended the remand of four other accused—Aman from Dhanbad, Ehsanul Haque, Vice Principal Imtiyaz, and journalist Jamaluddin, all from Hazaribagh—in connection with the case.
Presently, the CBI is conducting raids at four locations, including two near Patna and others in Patna and Kolkata, as part of their ongoing investigation into the NEET paper leak. The agency has employed advanced technology to aid in apprehending Rakesh and gathering crucial evidence related to the case.
