Mumbai: The immensely popular reality comedy program, The Kapil Sharma Show, has long been a subject of curiosity regarding its authenticity. In a recent revelation, veteran comedian Kiku Sharda, who has been an integral part of the team for over 13 years, shared insights into the intricate balance between scripted content and spontaneous humor that defines the show.

According to Sharda, while the show appears to be a free-flowing laugh riot, approximately 70 percent of the content is meticulously scripted. The remaining 30 percent relies on improvisation and the natural chemistry between the performers. Sharda explained that the production team intentionally keeps celebrity guests in the dark about specific jokes and punchlines to capture their genuine, unfiltered reactions on camera.

The actor, currently receiving praise for his performance in the film Welcome to the Jungle, noted that sticking to a script can be challenging when guests take the conversation in unexpected directions. He emphasized that the magic often happens in those unscripted moments when a new idea strikes a performer mid-act, leading to immediate improvisation.

Highlighting the unpredictable nature of the show, Sharda singled out Bollywood superstar Salman Khan as the most difficult guest to predict. He remarked that it is nearly impossible to gauge what will trigger a laughing fit for the actor. Sharda shared that lines designed to be hilarious sometimes receive a lukewarm response from Khan, while a random, unexpected comment can leave him in tears of laughter.

Kiku Sharda also credited the show’s host, Kapil Sharma, for his exceptional ability to steer the program back on track when an act fails to land. He praised Sharma’s sharp instincts, noting that the host can immediately sense when a segment is not working and will use unscripted wit to bridge the gap and maintain the show’s energy.

After over a decade of working together, the team has developed a telepathic understanding, allowing them to navigate the fine line between the written word and the spontaneous comedy that has made them a household name across India.
