New Delhi: The Central government has decided to modify COVID-19 vaccine certificates keeping in mind those who will be travelling abroad.
The final CoWin certificates of fully-vaccinated people wishing to go overseas will henceforth display the full date of birth, in the dd-mm-yy format. This is to comply with World Health Organization (WHO) standards, according to a PTI report.
The certificates had hitherto been mentioning only the age of beneficiary, based on year of birth. The new feature is likely to be available from next week.
The UK government officials recently expressed doubts over India’s vaccine certification process, though Serum Institute of India-manufactured Covishield was recognized.
According to UK’s latest guidelines, a fully-vaccinated Indian will still have to quarantine after landing there, just like a non-vaccinated traveller.
India vehemently opposed this policy, calling it ‘discriminatory’ treatment.
