Odisha Govt Sanctions Rs 40 Cr Rehab Package For Heritage Project In Puri

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has sanctioned Rs 40 crore for land acquisition and rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) package for development of heritage security zone around Jagannath Temple in Puri.

According to a letter by Joint Secretary Bimalendu Ray, Chief engineer, Design Planning and Investigation & Roads (DPI & R), Nirman Soudha, Bhubaneswar, has been allowed to place the Rs 40 crore fund available in the Land Acquisition Head of Account for the purpose of land acquisition/direct purchases and R&R packages and other related projects in Puri.

A copy of it has been forwarded to Puri Collector.

The administration will acquire a total of 15.191 acres of land, which include 2.6465 acre of government land and 12.5445 acre of private land in Baseli Sahi, Manikarnika Sahi, Kalikadevi Sahi, Dolamandap Sahi and Chudanga Sahi, for the projects.

Social impact assessment (SIA) survey for acquisition of private land is currently on. The survey and acquisition of land will be completed in a month, official sources said.

Notably, Chief Naveen Patnaik on September 13 had appointed five probationer IAS officers of the 2018 batch, Suryawanshi Mayur Vikas, J Sonal, Keerthi Vasan V, Subhankar Mohapatra and Bhuvnesh Devidas Patil to remain in charge of the various government projects in Puri to transform the Pilgrim Town into a world heritage city and assist the Puri collector Balwant Singh to expedite the project works.
