New Delhi: Amid the escalating political confrontation over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the opposition’s demands for the Chief Election Commissioner’s resignation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fiercely intensified its attack on the INDIA bloc. On Friday, BJP Member of Parliament Sudhanshu Trivedi launched a scathing critique against the opposition, accusing them of conspiring to destabilise the nation under the dangerous guise of a “regime change.”

Addressing the media, Trivedi drew a sharp and deliberate distinction between a democratic transition of power and a regime change. He stated that changing a government through the legitimate electoral process is a fundamental democratic practice. Conversely, he argued, a “regime change” implies a malicious attempt to overthrow an established government through violent struggles, domestic conspiracies, and active collusion with foreign powers.

The senior BJP leader claimed that the opposition alliance and the Left parties are currently experiencing a severe moral decay. He asserted that because their mass support is continuously declining and their prospects for future political success are virtually non-existent, these factions are now desperately introducing alarming terms like ‘regime change’ into Indian political discourse.

Trivedi also heavily targeted a recent protest held by opposition-aligned groups at Connaught Place. Mocking the notably low turnout, he highlighted that the area’s outer and inner circles are named Indira Chowk and Rajiv Chowk, respectively. “Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi must be watching from above and bowing their heads in shame, seeing that these groups could not even gather a handful of people,” Trivedi remarked.

Taking his allegations further, the parliamentarian alleged a deliberate plot to sabotage India’s economic growth. He pointed out that Central Delhi serves as a crucial commercial hub during the ongoing festive season, catering not only to the capital but also to neighbouring states. He questioned whether the protests were intentionally orchestrated in this busy commercial district to disrupt business and damage the economy.

Issuing a direct appeal to the country’s youth, Trivedi warned, “A movement that claimed just three to four months ago that its sole objective was to reform the examination and entrance system is now openly engaging in conspiracies to ruin the nation’s economy.”
