In a dramatic turn during his ongoing Samriddhi Yatra, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar lost his temper at a public gathering here on Friday when a group of women began leaving midway.

The incident, captured in a video that quickly went viral on social media, showcased the JD(U) leader’s trademark candid style, drawing widespread attention and sparking discussions in political circles.

Addressing the crowd, Nitish paused his speech on state developments to confront the departing attendees. “Why are you running away… shall we stop it?” he exclaimed, visibly irked. He urged them to stay, saying, “Hey, you are not running away; stay quietly,” and added, “We see them going from here to there. Hey, where are you going? The real thing is still pending; don’t go there.”

Without naming RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Nitish took a subtle dig at the previous regime: “Whatever work was done before, now we are telling what work is happening.” He highlighted his government’s inclusive efforts, stating, “The government has developed all sections of society, whether Hindu or Muslim, upper caste, Dalit, Mahadalit, backward, extremely backward — work has been done for all.”

Nitish elaborated on initiatives for the Muslim community, noting, “We have done a lot of work. Madrasas have been given government recognition, and their teachers receive salaries equivalent to other government teachers.” He also mentioned hiking pensions for the elderly, disabled, and widows from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100, benefiting 14 lakh people.

The yatra, part of Nitish’s tour ahead of his planned Rajya Sabha move, has seen similar unscripted moments before, often making headlines for his straightforward demeanour. As the video circulates, it underscores the CM’s no-nonsense approach amid Bihar’s evolving political landscape.
