Patna: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asserted that India’s deep-rooted democracy makes a Nepal-style Gen-Z uprising impossible here, even as he rallied support for the NDA in Bihar’s high-stakes assembly polls.

In a candid interview with a private channel amid Bihar’s election fever, Shah drew a sharp contrast with Nepal’s violent September protests, where over 73 lives were lost. Gen-Z demonstrators there torched parliament, courts, and government buildings, triggered by social media bans but fuelled by economic woes and corruption, ultimately toppling the Oli government.

“India is not Nepal. Our democratic roots are incredibly strong and profound,” Shah declared. “I don’t believe a Generation Z revolt is feasible here.” He praised Indian youth for their hard work and contributions to national growth, emphasising channels for expression within the system.

Turning to Bihar, Shah warned against a Mahagathbandhan victory, predicting a return to ‘jungle raj’. With polling slated for November 6 and 11 and results on November 14, he urged voters to back NDA for stability.

Shah’s remarks underscore confidence in India’s resilient institutions, even as global youth discontent simmers.
