New Delhi: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday thanked former president Donald Trump for his unwavering support for Israel, which he said is particularly important during the Gaza fighting.
Netanyahu hailed Trump as “the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House,” adding that Trump “made critical decisions to strengthen Israel’s security.” And he also gave props to Trump for getting needed weapons through the pipeline faster than they otherwise would have.
Video Message on X
Referring to his video message on X, Netanyahu once again said he appreciated Trump for “standing by Israel.” During my recent visit to Washington, I reaffirmed that Donald Trump is the greatest ally Israel has ever had in the White House, and he consistently demonstrates this every day. — In January 2022, as we began to emerge from a global pandemic, I updated my social media status.
He went on to discuss Trump’s priceless contributions, including that his visionary plan for Gaza is indicative of his commitment. “This is a plan which Israel supports, unconditionally. Trump has supported us by seeing that every single weapon held back from us was delivered. Netanyahu added that “in so doing, he [Trump] delivered to Israel the power to overcome the Iranian terror axis.” Hi, and he was also adamant in saying that it was Trump that was instrumental in its pressure for the hostages being released and to maintain Israel’s overall security.
Talks about a permanent halt to hostilities
In particular, Israel has agreed to a 50-day extension of the temporary ceasefire suggested by Trump’s own envoy, Steve Witkoff. We need an immediate ceasefire so we can negotiate the terms of a permanent ceasefire to end this war in Gaza,” Netanyahu added. Some 50 percent of the hostages would be freed immediately, while the rest would be released upon the signing of a permanent truce deal, under Witkoff’s plan.”
Netanyahu again spoke in favour of the proposal from Israel’s side, claiming, “I have also accepted this plan, but so far, Hamas has rejected it.” Yet instead, Hamas has proposed its terms for a lasting truce, which are completely untenable.
