Is Pawan Kalyan Becoming Andhra’s Yogi? The Surprising Shift In Leadership Style

Pithapuram: Pawan Kalyan, the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has sent a very strict message against the harassment and ill-treatment of women in a public meeting held in his constituency, Pithapuram. The Jana Sena Party head stressed the significance of women in society and disapproved of the idea that some people have that mistreating women is an act of courage.

“Disrespecting and mistreating women means you are not a real man,” Kalyan made a statement during the event. “If you want to show your manhood, then you should take part in gymnastics, join the army, and serve your country. Misconduct with women is not the power show. We will abolish this kind of mentality… This is my warning to you.”  Pointing out the world-wide worth of women, the Kalyan continued, “Every house has a woman. The birth of everything is unthinkable without their presence.”

Kalyan also mentioned that he would not tolerate any kind of harassment and ordered the police to take tougher measures against it. “I do not want to hear the word ‘harassment’ in Pithapuram anymore,” he told the officers.

Kalyan, who was very upset about the safety of women in public places, raised a question about whether his position is useful if he cannot protect women in his area.

The statement came soon after Kalyan criticised the sitting government, the home minister, over the rape cases in Tirupati and Kadapa. He had previously proposed that he could take the Home Ministry portfolio if there was no improvement, comparing it to the policy of no tolerance that Yogi Adityanath had enacted in Uttar Pradesh.

Kalyan’s firm position on women’s safety is seen as a response to the growing number of crimes against women in the state, and it also indicates his determination to bring the issue to the fore.
