NCP Split Drama: Sharad Pawar’s Bold Declaration Against BJP Alliance

Mumbai: At the onset of the two-day state congress meeting at YB Chavan Centre, NCP chief Sharad Pawar shared his strong disapproval of the plans of breaking up the party into the Ajit Pawar faction and stated that he would work with BJP till the end of his days during the two-day meeting of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) at the YB Chavan Centre.

The meeting was with the Sornigh NCP (SP) after last month’s debacle in the Maharashtra assembly elections, and it bestowed party leaders to Sharad Pawar to take all next good decisions for the progress of the organization. All the ten MLAs and eight Lok Sabha MPs placed their loyalty at the feet of the party president.

In a surprising remark, Pawar also cited the contribution of the RSS in the election victory of the BJP since, according to him, they had been organising it for two decades. The ex-minister and current MLA Jitendra Awhad specified that his boss’s speech was an analysis of the RSS working pattern, not a compliment.

The party also made some officeholder ground-level changes; they decided to include 50% women and youth in the upcoming local body elections. Party spokesperson Mahesh Tapase was, however, the last person to make changes to the policy, and the whole party is behind Pawar’s leadership.

Strategically held, the meeting was on the heels of the allegations made the very day earlier by UBT leader Sanjay Raut regarding Ajit Pawar’s faction lurking around NCP(SP) leaders with juicy central cabinet positions.

“We will not put in any merger with any faction, not also with the BJP, and we will be running our party based on our own strength,” Awhad exclaimed firmly during the post-meeting conversation.

The NCP was divided in June 2023, with Ajit Pawar going with 40 MLAs to the BJP-led government. In the election that just took place, NCP(SP) only got 10 out of 86 seats contested, which was last among the major parties.
