New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the United States later this month for a three-day trip from 21 to 23 September, during which he will participate in several high-profile events, including the Quad Leaders’ Summit and a community event for Indian Americans. According to current information, PM Modi will arrive in the US on 21 September to attend the fourth Quad Leaders’ Summit, which will be held in Wilmington, Delaware.
On 22 September, the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend an Indian community programme in New Jersey, engaging with members of the diaspora. His visit will conclude with participation in the United Nations’ ‘Summit of the Future’ on 23 September.
The White House has announced that President Joe Biden will host the Quad Leaders’ Summit on 21 September, which will see the leaders of Australia, India, Japan, and the US come together. The summit aims to strengthen strategic alignment among the four countries, promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region, and deliver tangible benefits to regional partners. The Quad, which was established to counterbalance China’s influence in the region, will be a focal point of discussions.
White House spokesperson Karin Jean-Pierre emphasised that the event in Wilmington marks the first time President Biden will host foreign leaders there, highlighting his close ties with each of the Quad leaders and the significance of the alliance to the participating nations. The spokesperson added that in recent years, Quad Foreign Ministers have met eight times, and the governments of the Quad countries continue to coordinate their activities at all levels.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the US underscores India’s commitment to global partnerships and regional security, and it is expected to reinforce the strategic importance of the Quad alliance.
