Vishnudev Sai Set to Assume Chief Minister Role in Chhattisgarh: Oath-Taking on December 13

Raipur: Vishnudev Sai has been entrusted with the leadership of Chhattisgarh and is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister on December 13. The ceremony witnessed the presence of notable figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and several Union ministers.

Following his election as the leader of the legislative party, Vishnu Deo Sai promptly met the governor, formally staking his claim to form the government.

Preparations are underway for the swearing-in ceremony scheduled at the Science College grounds in the capital, Raipur. Alongside Vishnudev Sai, two deputy chief ministers and several ministers are expected to take the oath, marking a pivotal moment in Chhattisgarh’s political landscape. Vishnudev Sai now assumes the role of the fourth Chief Minister of the state, a decision ratified during the BJP legislature party meeting on Saturday.

A four-time Member of Parliament from the Raigad Lok Sabha constituency, Vishnudev Sai previously served as a Cabinet minister in the initial Modi government. Emerging victorious from the Kunkuri constituency in the recent elections, Sai defeated Congress MLA UD Minz. Hailing from the Kanwar tribe within the tribal society, Vishnudev Sai is renowned for his amicable relations with colleagues, maintaining a clean image even in the eyes of the party’s high command. Notably, he shares a close rapport with former Chief Minister Raman Singh and is regarded as one of the trusted leaders of the Sangh.

In the recent Chhattisgarh assembly elections, the BJP secured 54 seats out of the 90-member assembly. Particularly noteworthy is the party’s substantial victory in tribal seats, securing 17 out of the 29 reserved for Scheduled Tribes. This marks a remarkable improvement from the 2018 assembly elections, when the BJP only clinched three of the reserved seats.
