New Delhi: In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police has made another substantial seizure, recovering cocaine valued at ₹2000 crore from a warehouse in the Ramesh Nagar area. Approximately 200 kilograms of the narcotic were confiscated, marking the second major success for the Delhi Police in just one week.
This latest seizure follows the previous discovery of over 560 kilograms of cocaine in Mahipalpur, which was estimated to be worth around ₹5000 crore. The police have intensified their efforts in combating drug-related crimes, and this operation underscores their ongoing commitment to dismantling drug syndicates operating within the city.
The breakthrough in this case came after the Special Cell arrested the seventh accused linked to the syndicate. The suspect, identified as Akhlaq from Hapur in Uttar Pradesh, provided crucial information during interrogation that led to the raid in Ramesh Nagar.
The Delhi Police are currently investigating all angles related to the syndicate, examining both cargo and road routes used for drug transportation. Initial reports suggest that Akhlaq’s role in the operation was primarily related to the transportation of the drugs.
The cocaine was found in a warehouse owned by a UK national who has since fled the scene. Information about this individual emerged during Akhlaq’s questioning, prompting further investigations into the international connections of the drug trafficking network.
Earlier, on October 2nd, police discovered more than 560 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana in a warehouse in Mahipalpur. The case garnered significant media attention when it was revealed that one of the suspects had ties to the Youth Congress, leading to political ramifications. The Congress party later clarified that the individual was no longer a member, having been expelled prior to the incident.
The Special Cell has previously arrested key figures within the syndicate, including Tushar Goyal, Himanshu Kumar, and Aurangzeb Siddiqui, with police identifying Goyal as the mastermind behind the operation. Reports indicate that this syndicate planned to sell large quantities of drugs at concerts and rave parties across Delhi and other metropolitan areas.
As the investigation unfolds, the Delhi Police remain focused on eradicating drug trafficking networks and ensuring the safety of the community. The recoveries made in recent operations reflect their ongoing commitment to combatting the drug menace in the city.
