The 72-Year-Old former sports icon is making headlines following his marriage to a 20-year-old woman, sparking massive interest and conversations across social media platforms.
According to reports, the couple officially tied the knot on August 27. The nuptials drew widespread public attention after pictures of the ceremony surfaced online, highlighting the 52-year age gap between the veteran footballer and his new bride.
The news of the wedding was officially confirmed by Abdah Alif’s younger brother, Datuk Yunus Alif, who is also a well-known former national footballer and coach for Malaysia. Addressing the public curiosity, Yunus clarified that the union took place with the full blessings and mutual consent of both families. Extending his heartfelt wishes to the newlyweds, Yunus mentioned that his brother is currently enjoying quality time with his wife.
Datuk Abdah Alif remains a highly respected figure in the history of Malaysian sports, having been a pivotal part of the national team’s golden era during the late 1970s and early 1980s. He is best remembered for his crucial role in the squad that famously defeated South Korea 2-1, securing Malaysia’s qualification for the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
Despite their historic qualification, Abdah Alif and his teammates could not participate in the Games. Malaysia joined the United States-led boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympics to protest the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan, leaving a lingering “what if” in the nation’s football history.
