Rohit Sharma Eyes Future With Team India, Not Plans Of Retirement Yet

Mumbai: India Emerges Victorious in ICC Champions Trophy; Rohit Sharma Assumes Indian Leadership, but He has been vocal about the fact that there is a lot of cricket remaining for him post-this triumph. Following two trophies in about ten months, there has been speculation whether or not Rohit will be included in the ODI World Cup in 2027.

Rohit had dismissed the rumors of his ODI retirement in a press conference too as he confirmed that he will keep on playing ODI cricket. But he is non-committal, for now, about featuring in the 2027 World Cup, saying it is too early for such commitments. Instead, Rohit said he and the team are living in the moment and enjoying the time together, instead of looking ahead to further tournaments.

There was lot of speculation in the run-up to the Champions Trophy that this might be Rohit’s final major tournament. But now he’s said that he won’t retire from ODI cricket, at least for the time being. Rohit scored 76 runs in the final and his knock simply reiterated his importance in the team.

Now, the ODI World Cup in South Africa in 2027 is a title that Rohit has his eyes on too. He has already won 2 Champions Trophy & 2 T20 World Cup titles but the ODI World Cup still remains elusive for him despite multiple attempts. Rohit has mentioned that he would love to win this title and would be hoping that he stays fit for next two years and keeps performing the way he is doing in these two tournaments.
