Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been facing persistent death threats from notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, leaving his family and security forces on high alert. Recently, Bishnoi revealed why he issued these threats, sending shockwaves across the nation.
In a confession to the Delhi Police’s Special Cell, Bishnoi admitted that his motivation wasn’t just the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, for which Khan has long faced criticism. Bishnoi’s shocking confession revealed that he used the actor’s name to gain media attention and elevate his stature within his Bishnoi community.
Why Lawrence Bishnoi Targeted Salman Khan
In his statement, Bishnoi recalled an encounter outside a Jodhpur court. “I was being brought in for the Vasudev Irani murder case, and Salman Khan was there for his own hearing regarding the blackbuck poaching case. That’s when I decided to threaten him,” Bishnoi said. He further explained, “I did it to get media attention and make a name for myself in the Bishnoi community. Salman wasn’t being punished for killing the blackbuck, and I wanted to be in the spotlight for standing against him.”
The chilling confession, made on 30 March 2021, underscores that the real motive behind the threats was Bishnoi’s desire for fame rather than the poaching case alone.
Salman Khan Continues Working Despite Threats
Despite the dangerous threats, Salman Khan has not let fear stop him from continuing his work. Just last week, he was seen hosting the popular reality show Bigg Boss. During one emotional moment on the show, Salman shared his feelings with contestant Shilpa Shirodkar, admitting, “Sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t even be here today. But it’s a commitment, and I’m here because I have to do my job.”

Salman Khan has also resumed shooting for his upcoming film Sikandar, and will soon be seen in a cameo for Singham Again as his iconic character, Chulbul Pandey. Given the ongoing threats, the actor is working under Y-plus security, which ensures heightened protection around him at all times.
