Mumbai: On November 22nd the initial game of a five game series, between India and Australia is set to take place at Optos Stadium in Perth as part of the Border Gavaskar Trophy competition. The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI ) has announced an 18 player squad, for this series with three players accompanying the team to Australia as substitutes.. Right before the series commences Team India has encountered a setback because of an injury.
Indian fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed has come back, to India after sustaining an injury during his time as a reserve player for the team series lineup. Unfortunately for Khaleel Ahmeds fans and the team alike he could not join the practice sessions due to his injury. Following an evaluation of his condition by the team it was recommended that he takes some time off to recuperate which led to his return, to India. It is still uncertain whether he will be able to make it for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to the IPL auction since he has been let go by the Delhi Capitals team.
Yash Dayal has joined as a reserve player in place of Khaleel in the squad traveling for a series of matches, in Perth after coming from South Africa where he was part of the T20 team but didn’t get a chance to play on field there directly from Johannesburg without going back to India first as stated by a BCCI source to PTU that this change was made strategically to have someone with skills similar to Mitchell Starcs, for practice sessions and even though Yash was initially planned for a Test match but got diverted to South Africa instead. “If Khaleel can’t bowl anymore there’s no point, in him sticking around here.”
