Headmaster Suspended For ‘Insulting’ National Flag In Balasore

Balasore: Headmaster of Saradiha Primary School in Balasore district has been suspended for allegedly insulting the National Flag.

His Offence: The tricolour kept fluttering on the school campus even after sunset following the 73th Independence Day celebrations. Acting on the complaints of some locals, Baliapal Block Education Officer (BEO) initiated an and later suspended the headmaster, sources said.

According to National Flag Code 2002, Indians were not allowed to keep the flag hoisted after sunset. This changed in 2009 when the Home Ministry allowed flying of the National Flag even at night with the conditions that the flagpole had to be really tall and the flag kept well-illuminated.
