New Delhi: Political temperatures across the country have soared following alleged derogatory remarks made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a recent event in Patna. In response, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched massive nationwide protests, staging demonstrations in several major cities including Patna, Delhi, Jaipur, and Chandigarh, while demanding an immediate apology from the Congress leadership.
Taking its aggression to social media, the BJP took a sharp dig at the Congress chief on X (formerly Twitter). The party posted, “Dear Kharge, Modi is not going anywhere. He has been elected Prime Minister for a third time. He has our votes bro, which your boss will never get.” Delhi BJP leaders and workers have adamantly demanded a public apology from both Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
The political outrage quickly spilled onto the streets. In Bihar, the state BJP unit organised a ‘Jan Aakrosh March’ that commenced from the party headquarters in Patna and concluded at the Income Tax Golambar. Led by state BJP president Sanjay Sarawagi, furious party workers burnt Kharge’s effigy amidst loud anti-Congress sloganeering.
Similar scenes unfolded in Rajasthan, where BJP workers attempted to lay siege to the Congress office in Jaipur. Police forces had to intervene and erect barricades at the Chomu House Circle to stop the agitating workers belonging to the party’s youth, women, and SC wings. In Chandigarh, the situation grew tense as BJP workers marched from their Sector 33 office towards the Congress headquarters in Sector 34, prompting the local police to deploy barricades and water cannons to maintain order.
Condemning the remarks, senior BJP leader Nitin Nabin launched a scathing attack on the grand old party. “Using derogatory words has become the legacy of the Congress. Every president of the party constantly attacks the Prime Minister’s family and uses insulting language. The Congress is moving forward with a completely bankrupt mentality,” Nabin stated.
He further added that the current rhetoric reflects the deep frustration and despair within the opposition ranks. “The crores of people in this country have blessed the Prime Minister. If you insult him, the people of the country have punished you in the past, and they will continue to do so in the future,” Nabin warned.
