Meerut: The local district court’s unprecedented move to hand out dual death sentences within 48 hours has cast a spotlight on a chilling series of premeditated murders. Currently, five women remain incarcerated in Meerut, either convicted or undergoing trial, for orchestrating the gruesome killings of their husbands alongside their paramours.

The latest sentencing involves Ravita, dubbed ‘Vishkanya’ by locals, who, along with her lover Amardeep, received the death penalty on October 16. Police records show they strangled her husband, Amit Kashyap, in April 2025 and staged a venomous snake bite to mask the crime. Just two days prior, District and Sessions Judge Arvind Kumar Mishra awarded capital punishment to Muskan Rastogi and her partner Sahil Shukla. In the infamous ‘Blue Drum’ case, the duo murdered Muskan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput, dismembered his body into five pieces, and concealed the remains in a plastic drum filled with cement in March 2025.

While these convictions have shocked the city, three similar cases involving women named Damini, Komal, and Anjali are actively proceeding through the trial courts.

In July 2026, police arrested Damini and her lover, a school van driver named Tushar Payla, for the murder of her husband, Atul Kumar. According to investigators, the duo sought a Rs 20 lakh insurance payout to start a new life together. They allegedly drugged Kumar and, with the help of two snake charmers, unleashed a highly venomous krait snake to bite him while he slept.

In another shocking incident uncovered in April 2026, Komal allegedly mortgaged her jewellery to pay a Rs 6 lakh contract to assassinate her husband, Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Nain Singh. Police stated she conspired with her cousin and paramour, Gulshan, to execute the deadly hit.

The fifth ongoing case dates back to November 2025 in the Parikshitgarh area. Authorities allege that Anjali lured her husband, Rahul, to an isolated temple area late at night under false pretences. Once there, her neighbour and lover, Ajay, fatally shot him three times.

With two convictions already resulting in the highest possible legal penalty, legal experts and citizens are closely watching the judicial proceedings of the remaining three cases, awaiting the final verdicts on these calculated betrayals.
