New Delhi: The food we consume on a daily basis has a direct and profound impact on our overall health. Failing to pay attention to our dietary habits can lead to serious health complications, making individuals vulnerable to various lifestyle diseases prematurely. As medical professionals continuously emphasize the importance of healthy eating, a recent report sheds light on how our daily meals influence not just weight and digestion but also long term disease prevention.
According to a diet report by the National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research under the ICMR, dietary factors play a critical role in influencing the risk of cancer. The guidelines suggest that people must carefully evaluate what goes into their daily plates, prioritising nutritious and fiber rich items while strictly limiting certain unhealthy foods.
For a healthy body, the Cancer India report strongly recommends making fresh fruits and vegetables an essential part of our daily meals. Green vegetables should be consumed regularly. Additionally, orange and red colored produce like carrots, pumpkins, and sweet potatoes are highly recommended because they contain a good amount of beta carotene.
Medical experts also advise replacing refined flour or maida and highly processed items with whole grains. Incorporating grains like bajra, jowar, corn, and barley provides an excellent source of dietary fiber. A high fiber diet consisting of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables is considered a far superior option compared to a low fiber diet for maintaining optimal bodily functions.
On the other hand, the health guidelines strictly warn against the consumption of deep fried items. Indian snacks like samosa, kachori, poori, and bhature should be completely eliminated or severely restricted as they only contribute to unhealthy fat accumulation. Similarly, high calorie and high fat foods such as cakes, cookies, and donuts offer zero nutritional value and merely lead to unnecessary weight gain.
Most importantly, the report highlights the severe dangers of consuming excessive red meat and salt heavy foods. A high intake of red meat is directly linked to an increased risk of stomach and bowel cancer. Limiting these items is absolutely crucial for long term wellbeing.
Creating the perfect daily plate is a simple process of balancing the right ingredients. By filling the plate with fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and nutritious foods, individuals can significantly boost their health and build a strong defense against life threatening illnesses.
