Mathura: Overcoming a profound childhood tragedy, Mathura resident Atul Dagar has secured admission to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. The young achiever lost his father at the tender age of three. His father, Sudhir Kumar Dagar, served in the Jat Regiment of the Indian Army and was martyred during Operation Rakshak in Jammu and Kashmir on September 15 2012.
Raised by his mother Krishna Devi alongside his two older sisters, Atul never let personal grief hinder his academic ambitions. He recently cracked the highly competitive Joint Entrance Examination Advanced 2026. Securing an All India Rank of 3463, the bright student earned a seat in the Computer Science program at IIT Bombay under the defense service category.
His journey to this premier engineering institute was supported by a private coaching center in Kota. The institute provided him with a massive fee waiver under their Shaurya Scholarship program. Dr Naveen Maheshwari, the founder of the coaching center, mentioned that the scholarship was launched in 2018 to provide a ninety percent fee concession to the children of martyrs. He added that witnessing the success of these students brings immense joy.
Apart from academic excellence, Atul is already making strides as a young educator. Harboring a deep interest in programming and mathematics since childhood, he recently launched an online educational startup. Through his self designed website, Atul teaches reasoning and trains young students from class six to ten specifically for Army School entrance exams.
Speaking about his success, Atul dedicated his achievement to his late father. He expressed that while his father is not physically present today, his eternal blessings made this challenging dream a reality. The young engineering student added that just as his father protected the nation on the borders, he aims to fulfill his duty by advancing India in the field of education and technology.
His mother Krishna Devi shared her immense pride in his milestone accomplishment. She stated that securing a seat at IIT Bombay is the greatest tribute Atul could ever offer to his martyred father. She emphasized that the core values of national service are deeply ingrained in him, and he wishes to contribute to the progress of the country in his own unique way.
