Kolkata: In an unprecedented development that signals a deep existential crisis within the Trinamool Congress, the party National Treasurer Arup Biswas has officially written to HDFC Bank requesting an immediate freeze on all transactions of the party bank accounts. The dramatic move comes amid a severe internal rebellion and mass defections following the party recent debacle in the elections.

The letter, addressed to the manager of the Central Plaza branch of HDFC Bank, explicitly highlights the absolute breakdown of internal order within the All India Trinamool Congress. Biswas noted that the political outfit is undergoing massive turmoil, with several Members of Parliament and Members of the Legislative Assembly openly revolting and leaving the organization.

This widespread internal rebellion has triggered an intense legal and political battle over who holds genuine authority over the party, its official symbol, and its properties. Consequently, immense uncertainty prevails regarding who is legally authorized to manage the financial assets of the political organization.

A major immediate trigger for the treasurer intervention is the vulnerability of physical financial instruments. Biswas expressed grave concern that blank cheques bearing his official signature, which are currently kept at the party headquarters, could be severely misused by unauthorized individuals amidst the ongoing chaotic environment.

Political observers reveal that the bank accounts in question hold party funds worth approximately five hundred and thirty four crore rupees. Reports indicate that the rebel faction forced the move after a leaked plan emerged suggesting that the party top leadership had allegedly instructed the relocation of these massive funds to another entity.

The freezing of the party central treasury plunges the ruling establishment in West Bengal, colloquially known as the Kalighat leadership, into an acute financial crisis. The absolute authority of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee is facing an unprecedented challenge from within their own ranks.

While Arup Biswas has reportedly avoided public appearances and skipped multiple police summons recently, the emergence of this formal letter has sent shockwaves through the regional political landscape. As banking authorities evaluate the request from the designated treasurer, the financial gridlock is set to severely hamper the operational capabilities of the Trinamool Congress ahead of upcoming political challenges.
