Patna: Popular educator and YouTuber Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, has landed in legal trouble after Patna Police registered an FIR against him in connection with a firing incident outside his coaching institute, Khan Global Studies, in the Bihar capital.
The development comes days after violence and unrest were reported outside the coaching centre located in the Musallahpur area under the Kadamkuan police station limits. The incident had triggered widespread attention, with videos of gunfire allegedly involving security personnel associated with the institute circulating on social media.
According to police officials, the FIR was lodged after two security guards, who were earlier arrested in the case, allegedly told investigators that they had opened fire on Khan Sir’s instructions. Based on their statements, police have booked Khan Sir under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to attempt to murder, along with provisions of the Arms Act.
Investigators claim the guards stated that Khan Sir had allegedly asked them to fire and assured them that he would handle the consequences. The police have seized the weapons used in the incident and sent them for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case is linked to a clash that took place on June 2 outside the coaching institute. Following the incident, videos surfaced showing armed guards firing shots into the air. Police subsequently arrested the two guards and launched a detailed probe into the circumstances leading to the firing.
Responding to the allegations, Khan Sir has maintained that the firing was an act of self defence. He claimed that a violent confrontation was underway outside the institute and that the guards acted to protect people present at the scene until police arrived. He has also alleged that rival coaching institutes may be behind the unrest and the attack on his institution.
The FIR has sparked strong reactions among students. Hundreds of supporters gathered outside the coaching centre after news of the case emerged, raising slogans in support of Khan Sir. Additional police forces were deployed to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.
Senior police officials have confirmed that the investigation remains underway and that further legal action will depend on the evidence collected during the probe. The case is expected to remain under close public scrutiny given Khan Sir’s popularity among competitive exam aspirants across the country.
