New Delhi: Axis My India founder and political analyst Pradeep Gupta has made a major prediction on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s future in national politics, saying the party’s dominance may continue as long as there is no major fall in the performance of the current government.
According to the ABP Live report, Gupta said the BJP, which came to power at the Centre in 2014, could continue its political dominance for at least 20 years. He compared the present phase of Indian politics with the long period of Congress dominance, pointing out that politics often moves in cycles.
Gupta, who has been associated with several election forecasts through Axis My India, said India is once again witnessing a phase of one party dominance. Referring to the Congress era, he said the party remained in power till 1977 before facing serious political challenges. In his view, a similar political cycle may now be visible in the BJP’s case.
He also underlined that the future of both the ruling alliance and the opposition will depend heavily on the government’s performance. Gupta said that after receiving a large mandate, public expectations from the BJP and the NDA have increased, and the ruling side will now have to “super perform.”
The political analyst further observed that as long as the BJP’s governance does not weaken or disappoint voters, the party may continue winning elections, while the opposition could find it difficult to regain lost ground.
