Karachi: Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali launched a scathing attack on the country’s cricket system after Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat against Bangladesh national cricket team in the Test series, calling the current state of Pakistan cricket “finished”.

Reacting strongly to the shocking loss, Basit Ali questioned the team’s direction, selection policies and overall cricket structure. He expressed disappointment over Pakistan’s repeated failures in international cricket despite possessing talented players.

“Pakistan cricket is finished,” Basit Ali said while analysing the team’s poor performance. He further claimed that there appeared to be no proper planning or consistency within the setup, adding that frequent changes in management and team combinations had badly affected the side.

The former batter also criticised the lack of discipline and accountability in the system. According to him, Bangladesh looked far more organised and hungry on the field, while Pakistan struggled in crucial moments throughout the contest.

The defeat has triggered massive criticism from former players and fans alike, with several experts questioning the future of Pakistan cricket. The loss is being viewed as one of Pakistan’s most disappointing performances in recent years, especially considering Bangladesh’s steady rise in the longer format of the game.

Bangladesh outplayed Pakistan in key departments, including batting discipline and bowling consistency, exposing serious weaknesses in the hosts’ lineup. The result has intensified pressure on the Pakistan team management and selectors ahead of upcoming international assignments.

Basit Ali’s remarks have since gone viral on social media, reflecting the growing frustration among supporters over Pakistan’s recent performances on the global stage.
