Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma continued his explosive IPL 2026 campaign, adding new milestones to his name as SRH hosted Delhi Capitals at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Monday.
Abhishek came into the game with 179 runs from 6 matches at a strike rate of 218.64, including two fifties. His 59 off 22 balls against Chennai Super Kings earlier this season had 6 fours and 4 sixes, while he smashed 74 off 28 balls with 5 fours and 8 sixes against Punjab Kings.
This season, the left-hander became only the second player after David Warner to complete 100 sixes for SRH. He now has 101 sixes for the franchise, with an overall SRH tally of 1,808 runs at a strike rate of 162.88. He also scripted the fastest fifty for SRH — a 15-ball half-century against CSK on April 18.
Abhishek’s career-best remains the 141 off 55 balls in 2025, still the highest score by an Indian in IPL history. With SRH’s aggressive template at home, his boundary-hitting has been central — their clash with Rajasthan saw 148 runs come from boundaries alone.
“He has redefined aggressive batting,” SRH’s team note reads, with over 1,575 runs for the franchise at a strike rate above 167 since becoming a regular opener in 2022.
