New Delhi: Commuters planning rail travel to and from the hills and plains of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh face disruption as Indian Railways has extended the cancellation of several key trains in the Jammu Tavi division until late May and early June 2026.

The move stems from ongoing engineering works on bridges, prioritising passenger safety amid critical infrastructure upgrades.

Northern Railway authorities have confirmed full cancellations for at least six prominent express services, affecting routes connecting Kathgodam, Kanpur Central, Ghazipur City, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra via Jammu Tavi. These include popular links serving the Rudrapur and Tarai regions, crucial for pilgrims, tourists, and daily travellers.

The affected trains are:

12207 Kathgodam–Jammu Tavi Express: Cancelled till June 2, 2026.

12208 Jammu Tavi–Kathgodam Express: Cancelled till May 31, 2026.

12209 Kanpur Central–Kathgodam Express: Cancelled till June 2, 2026.

12210 Kathgodam–Kanpur Central Express: Cancelled till June 1, 2026.

14611 Ghazipur City–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Express: Cancelled till May 29, 2026.

14612 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Ghazipur City Express: Cancelled till May 28, 2026.

Reports indicate broader impacts, with extensions covering up to 20 trains in the Jammu division due to operational reasons, including short terminations and originations for services like Jammu Mail and select premium expresses. This prolonged disruption, now stretching over months, has sparked concerns among passengers, especially with the approaching summer travel season.

Railway officials urge travellers to verify status via the official IRCTC website, NTES app, or helplines before booking or journeying to avoid last-minute hassles. Refunds for cancelled tickets are processed automatically for confirmed bookings.
