Kazan: The 16th BRICS Summit graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi also cemented India’s stance on the principles of diplomacy and dialogue instead of war, at the same time urging BRICS to be prepared against the threatened of terrorism. Modi statement unleased at Key international forums where power players including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin were present regretted conflict and war as a means of solving global issues.
During his speech, PM Modi said, “India will support diplomacy and dialogue and not war”, while at the same time stressing on how terrorism shouldn’t be fought selectively. “It is illogical and irresponsible for one to adopt two positions on something as sensitive as terrorism,” he said, and called on the global community to unite against terror financing and radicalisation.

On the global situation in his speech, PM Modi was able to capture some of the pertinent challenges globally including wars, economic challenges, climate change and terrorism. This year’s discourse comes at a time when globalisation is doing a whole lot of aglifon: the division between the developing and the developed world, East and West. Tough Stand Against Terrorism
Mentioning terrorism, Modi was determined on shed call for collective multi- Dimensional fight against terrorism and terror financing and to stop radicalization process, particularly youth. “We have to fight continuously radicalisation and nobody must have his double-standard in this aspect all over the world,” he said when addressing the problem of terrorism at the United Nations.
He also urged immediate working towards the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) to which India looks at the UN as auspice and is yet to be adopted.
BRICS: The Group that supports global unity rather than divide
In his comments, Modi underlined that BRICS should act as an ‘open’ formation that unites the people. “We have to convey the message out there that the BRICS is not a bloc that seeks to divide the world but one that seeks to change the lives of people for the better through reform in institutions such as the United Nations Security Council, the WTO, and the Multilateral development Banks,” he said.
Recognising the fact that the United States wants BRICS to proactively demand for reforms, he said, “BRICS is an organisation not afraid of change.” Our focus should be on making sure the institutions of the world are fixed, not changed.”
India’s Vision for the Future
PM Modi re-emphasized the foreign policy of India and said that India is for dialogue and not for war. “As we all rose up to the COVID challenge successfully, it is in our DNA profile that as one nation we set up opportunities for safer, efficient, empowered and prosperous future for forthcoming generations” he said, appreciation India’s proactive role in global arena.
As the summit of BRICS countries goes on, Modi’s speech outlined the further strategy of India which is aimed at world stability, cooperation, and adjustment of the current international organisations.
