Mumbai: The horror-comedy film Stree 2 has taken the box office by storm, emerging as the year’s most successful film and entering the coveted 400-crore club. Featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao in the lead roles, the movie has outperformed several big-budget films, becoming a hot topic of discussion with its catchy songs, memorable dialogues, and gripping storyline.
Released on 15 August, Stree 2 has captivated audiences with its humour, horror, and unique narrative. Since the release of the first instalment six years ago, fans have been eagerly awaiting this sequel, and their patience has paid off. The overwhelming response to the film has left other releases trailing at the box office. With many secrets of Stree 2 still left to be revealed, fans are already anticipating the next instalment. The film’s makers have been dropping hints about upcoming projects, keeping the excitement alive.
While the film’s success is often attributed to its lead actors, the supporting cast and characters have also played a significant role. Directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt, Stree 2 features a mix of entertaining elements, from Pawan Singh’s song to Tamannaah Bhatia’s item number. The film also includes a popular lullaby sung by Aparshakti Khurana’s character, Bittu, for his onscreen girlfriend, Chitti, which has left fans wondering if it will feature in the next instalment.
Anya Singh, who plays Chitti – affectionately called “Chanderi’s Katrina Kaif” – has garnered much attention for her role in the film. Recently, she discussed the movie’s success in an interview with Zoom. When asked whether her character will appear in Stree 3, Anya expressed hope but neither confirmed nor denied her involvement. “I hope people will be able to see my character in Stree 3,” she remarked, adding to the anticipation for the sequel.
Anya Singh also highlighted the deeper messages within the film, noting a scene where women, previously confined to their homes, emerge as powerful figures. “This scene presents a big point without saying anything,” she said. “The film delivers not only a fun story but also an interesting storyline and message to the audience. I consider myself very lucky to work in this film.”
Before Stree 2, Anya appeared in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan (2023) alongside Adarsh Gaurav, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Ananya Panday. She has also been seen in projects such as Kaun Banegi Shikharwati and Never Kissed Your Best Friend. Anya’s first lead role came in 2017 with the film Prisoner Closed, starring Aadhar Jain.
As Stree 2 continues to set new records, fans eagerly await what comes next in this successful horror-comedy franchise.
