Mumbai: Ending months of speculation, the makers of Salman Khan’s highly anticipated film, Maatrubhumi, have officially announced its release date. The movie, which has faced several delays and creative overhauls, will hit the big screens on December 4, 2026. This announcement serves as a major festive treat for fans who have been eagerly awaiting the Bollywood superstar’s return to the cinemas.
The confirmation of the release date was made during a grand trailer launch event held at a multiplex in Mumbai on November 6. The official movie poster, unveiled at the event, prominently displays the December 4 date, putting to rest all previous rumours regarding scheduling conflicts.
Maatrubhumi has undergone a lengthy and complex production journey. The project was initially titled Battle of Galwan, but the makers opted for a title change midway through the process. Furthermore, following the completion of the primary shoot, the film’s narrative and several crucial scenes were significantly reworked, contributing to the prolonged delay.
Prior to the official announcement, industry sources reported that the production team was caught between a November and a mid-December release. Early plans suggested a November 13 premiere, but delays in obtaining the necessary clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) forced the makers to reconsider. Dates like November 20 and December 11 were reportedly discussed before the team firmly settled on the first week of December.
According to the official CBFC website, the trailer for Maatrubhumi received its certification on Wednesday, November 4. The 4-minute and 43-second promotional clip has been granted a U/A 16+ certificate by the censor board.
With the trailer now certified and the release date officially locked, the promotional campaign for the film is expected to kick into high gear over the coming weeks, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the biggest Bollywood releases of the year.
