Turmoil in Bangladesh: Religious Leaders Call for Peace Amid Violent Unrest

Dhaka/New Delhi: Pandit Dhirendra Shastri of Bageshwar Dham has voiced his concern over the escalating violence in Bangladesh, appealing for peace amidst the chaos. In a video message released from New Zealand, Shastri expressed his distress over the situation, which he learned about through media reports.

“The situation in Bangladesh is terrible,” said Shastri. “There is a lot of disturbance and stone pelting. Three to four lakh people have resorted to violence in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. It is very painful.” Shastri called for world peace and specifically wished for calm to return to Bangladesh soon, highlighting the distress faced by Hindu communities and the vandalism of temples.

The violence in Bangladesh has claimed over 125 lives so far. Amidst the unrest, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country on Monday. She is currently at Hindon Airbase in India and is expected to leave for Europe within the next 48 hours.

Reports indicate that Hindu-dominated areas and temples have been targeted during the ongoing violence. Baba Ramdev, another prominent Indian spiritual leader, also expressed his concern over the situation. “The way Hindus are being attacked there is very dangerous. These attacks have to be stopped at any cost,” Ramdev stated.

As the situation in Bangladesh remains tense, the calls for peace and protection of minority communities resonate strongly across the region.
