New Delhi: The special Parliament session, which began on Monday at the old premises, will move to the new complex tomorrow. And all Parliamentarians will be welcomed into the new premises with a special hamper.
The jute bag contains a copy of the Constitution, a stamp and a commemorative coin. To give it a personalised touch, every MP will get a bag with his/her name inscribed on it, reported NDTV.
The Rajya Sabha will meet at 2.15 pm while the Lok Sabha will assemble at 1.15 pm in the newly-constructed complex.
The new Parliament building, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28, has seating arrangements for at least 888 members in Lok Sabha chamber and 300 in Rajya Sabha.
For a joint sitting of both Houses, as many as 1,280 members can be accommodated in Lok Sabha.
The four-storeyed, triangular-shaped building with a built-up area of 64,500 square metres has three gates — Gyan Dwar, Shakti Dwar and Karma Dwar. There are separate entrances for VIPs, MPs and visitors.
Addressing members on the opening day of special session, PM Modi paid tributes to “every brick” of the old building and said that MPs will enter the new building with “new hope and confidence.”
The old building, which is 96 years old, witnessed several historic events, including adoption of the Constitution.
