Mumbai: Republic TV Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami on Wednesday dared Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for getting him arrested in an alleged ‘fake’ case.
According to a report in Outlook India, after getting back to his newsroom, Arnab called out Thackeray and said that “the game has just begun”.
Goswami went on to say that he will be launching news channels in multiple languages and even from jail, if he gets arrested again and the CM cannot stop him from doing so.
“The game has just begun. I will launch (the channels) even from inside the jail and you (Thackeray) won’t be able to do anything,” said Goswami.
After being released from the Taloja jail at around 8.30 pm, Goswami drove straight to Republic TV’s Lower Parel studio. As his relived colleagues welcomed him in the studio, Arnab said, “Uddhav Thackeray, listen to me. You lost. You have been defeated.”
Arnab was arrested on November 4 in a 2018 suicide abetment case. Arnab said that he was subjected to three rounds of interrogation while he was in Taloja jail. “Uddhav Thackeray, you arrested me in an old, fake case and did not even apologise to me,” said Goswami.
Arnab thanked the Supreme Court for granting him interim bail while observing that it will be a “travesty of justice” if bail is denied.
