2024 Lok Sabha Election Results: ‘All is not well’ in UP BJP!

Lucknow: The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh is experiencing significant upheaval in the wake of the 2024 Lok Sabha election results. Reports indicate that internal tensions within the Uttar Pradesh BJP have prompted the party’s high command to intervene directly, urging state leaders to address internal conflicts privately rather than publicly.

The situation escalated to the point where BJP President JP Nadda attended the Uttar Pradesh BJP core committee meeting. During the meeting, it was noted that friction between the party organisation and the state government, as well as the perceived neglect of party workers, contributed to the BJP’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath acknowledged that BJP workers were disheartened by the election results. Following the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya travelled to Delhi to discuss the internal issues with JP Nadda behind closed doors.

While there are no immediate signs of a leadership change in Uttar Pradesh, significant organisational changes are anticipated. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath convened a strategy meeting with 30 ministers to prepare for the upcoming by-elections in 10 assembly seats. Notably, both Deputy Chief Ministers were absent from this meeting, feuelling speculation in political circles.

In parallel, Keshav Prasad Maurya met with BJP President JP Nadda, while State President Bhupendra Chaudhary held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In response to the party’s performance in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi has adopted a proactive stance, directing MPs and ministers to engage directly with party workers. Additionally, JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are actively participating in working committee meetings and maintaining continuous communication with party members.

The BJP’s high command is clearly focused on addressing the internal discord and strengthening the party’s organisational framework in Uttar Pradesh ahead of future elections. As the situation develops, all eyes will be on how these strategic changes impact the party’s prospects in the state.
