NewDelhi: Motorcycle servicing is crucial to guarantee that the motorcycle is optimum and also promises the best mileage. Nevertheless, many riders do not pay due attention to timely maintenance and this has been generating so many complaints of reduced performance and fuel efficiency. But the next thing that most people are so eager to know is more precisely how often a motorcycle needs servicing.
Shabbir Automobile owner Anil Kumar from Madhubihar, Delhi says that it should be done at least every 2000 kms under bike or a scooter. Regular service also makes the engine durable and efficient in that it is capable of taking you many a distance on a single litre of fuel.
For those who cannot service their bikes every 2,000 kilometres it is recommended not to travel more than 2,500 kilometres without service. If the servicing is done beyond this period, development of additional wear and tear on the engine becomes possible, most importantly, the piston, the clutch plate, the chain, and others.
There has always been a cost when maintenance is not done and that cost is always in the form of repairs. An engine repair for faulty piston could come to about Rs 3000 for a simple piston repair and Rs 4500 for both piston and clutch plate repair. When the extent of the problem is severe the figure may go up to ₹6000 to ₹7000.
Although current motorcycle models advise that servicing is done after every 5,000 km, most old motorcycle models still require servicing for every 2,5000 to 2,500 km. A bike does not require a service every now and then, it is one of the best preventive measures that should be made in order to avoid cases where you have to spend so much on repairing a damaged bike.
This post is a reminder that before you hit the roads, remember that a well-maintained motorcycle will be a high performer and fuel-efficient too. Do not sit back and let issues come your way – ensure your servicing is booked on time in order to have a fun time riding.
