Raipur: Vishnu Deo Sai, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Chhattisgarh, is to be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of the state. A week after the party’s victory in the state elections, the BJP’s parliamentary board made the decision.
Sai, a tribal leader and former Union Minister of State, was officially announced as the Chief Minister on Sunday. He arrived at the Raj Bhavan at 4:30 p.m. from the BJP office and met Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan.
Speaking after his meeting with the governor, Sai promised to fulfil all the promises made to the people during the election campaign. He also expressed confidence that the BJP government would bring progressive changes to the state.
The appointment of Sai, a tribal leader, is seen as a strategic move by the BJP to reach out to the tribal community in Chhattisgarh. Former Chief Minister Raman Singh congratulated Sai on Twitter and expressed confidence that he would lead the state to new heights.
Bhupesh Baghel, the outgoing Chief Minister from the Congress party, also congratulated Sai and wished him well in his new role.
