Vaze Said He Planted Explosives Outside Ambani House, Claim NIA Sources; Cop Denies Confessing

Mumbai: Suspended police officer Sachin Vaze has reportedly told National Investigating Agency (NIA) officers that he had planted the explosives in a vehicle outside Mukesh Ambani’s house Antilia because he wanted to become a super cop by solving this case as Investigation Officer.

According to a Lokmat report, NIA sources said the veracity of Vaze’s claim is being verified.

Vaze, an assistant police inspector with Mumbai crime branch, was arrested on March 13 by NIA in connection with the case of gelatin sticks being found in an SUV near Ambani’s house last month.

A Mumbai court on Thursday extended Vaze’s NIA custody till April 3.

PTI, however, reported that Vaze told the special NIA court he had nothing to do with the crime and had been made a scapegoat.

“I have been made a scapegoat and have nothing to do with the case,” Waze was quoted as saying judge PR Sitre during the hearing.

“I was investigating officer of the case for one and a half days, and did whatever I could in that capacity. But there was suddenly change in some plan somewhere. I went to the NIA office on my own and was arrested,” the police officer said, adding he had not made any confession.
