New Delhi: A vehicle in Israel’s Haifa has injured seven pedestrians. As per the Daily Mail report, the police have deemed the incident to be a terror attack. The suspect was arrested by security forces in Karkur, south of Haifa.
The attackers drove their vehicle over civilians and then got out and stabbed others, authorities said, near a bus station. Israeli emergency service Magen David Adom said it was treating seven people at the scene, including one in serious condition.
The Israeli police confirmed the incident in a post on X that said, “At the time there were passengers at the Karkur bus stand when a vehicle drove into them, and several people were injured. We have initiated a probe into the assault.
The attack occurred in Jabalia, in the north of Gaza, but comes as a renewed ceasefire between Israel and Hamas continues ahead of an expected escalation on January 19, which is due to last until March 1. The deal would see Hamas releasing 33 Israeli hostages, and Israel freeing 33 Palestinian prisoners every day in return. Meanwhile, fifty Palestinian prisoners for every Israeli female soldier released.
On the morning of Thursday, February 27, Hamas returned the bodies of four Israeli hostages to their families. The remains have since been identified.
