Speculations Rise as Ajit Pawar Considers Rejoining Uncle Sharad Pawar Ahead of Maharashtra Assembly Elections

Mumbai: With the Maharashtra Assembly elections looming, political dynamics in the state are rapidly evolving. Amidst these changes, speculation is rife about the future moves of NCP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Reports suggest that Ajit Pawar may reconcile with his uncle, Sharad Pawar, and realign with the NCP founder.

Following the party’s defeat in the Lok Sabha elections and dissatisfaction with the RSS, Ajit Pawar has been reassessing the NCP’s strategy for the upcoming assembly elections. On Thursday, July 18, 2024, Ajit Pawar convened a meeting with party leaders in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune, to discuss the way forward.

Sharad Pawar appears to be regaining his foothold in Maharashtra’s political landscape, as more leaders and supporters gravitate towards him. Recently, 29 NCP councillors joined the NCP (Sharad Chandra Pawar) faction in his presence. Notable figures such as former NCP city president Ajit Gawhane, working president Rahul Bhosale, student wing chief Yash Sane, and Bhosari assembly seat chief Pankaj Bhalekar were among those who switched allegiance. Sharad Pawar warmly welcomed these new additions, bolstering his position within the state.

Ajit Pawar’s recent actions come in the wake of an internal survey indicating his neglect of dedicated party workers. The RSS magazine ‘Weekly Vivek’ reported that BJP workers attributed the party’s electoral defeat in Maharashtra to the alliance with Ajit Pawar’s faction. This discontent has led to growing concerns about Ajit Pawar’s next move.

In response to these developments, Maharashtra BJP leader Pravin Darekar commented, “Many people are reconsidering their political affiliations ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. Members of the Ajit Pawar faction are beginning to align with Sharad Pawar’s group. If Ajit forms an alliance with his uncle Sharad, it could significantly bolster Sharad Pawar’s power in the state.”

As the Maharashtra Assembly elections approach, the potential reunion between Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar could reshape the state’s political landscape, adding another layer of intrigue to an already complex electoral battle.
