Bharatpur: Congress MP Sanjana Jatav from Bharatpur, Rajasthan, has made headlines once again, this time due to the unique security arrangement involving her husband, Kaptan Singh. In a notable first, Sanjana Jatav has become the only Member of Parliament whose personal security officer (PSO) is her spouse.
About 20 days ago, Sanjana Jatav recommended her husband, Kaptan Singh, for the role of her PSO. Acting on her recommendation, Alwar Superintendent of Police Anand recently issued the necessary orders. Kaptan Singh, a constable in the Rajasthan Police, will now take on the responsibility of ensuring the safety of his wife, the young and dynamic MP from Bharatpur parliamentary constituency.
Sanjana Jatav, who won the Bharatpur seat at the age of just 26, is one of the rising stars among young women politicians in India. She gained prominence through her involvement in the Congress party’s “Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon” campaign, which brought her into close association with Priyanka Gandhi. Before her election to the Lok Sabha, Sanjana also served as a Congress executive.
Reacting to the news of her husband’s appointment as her PSO, Sanjana expressed her confidence in his abilities. “My husband is my strength, and now he will be with me even during duty,” she said. “They were with me earlier and are with me now. Nothing has changed even after becoming an MP; only the work has increased, but our bond remains the same.”
Sanjana Jatav married Kaptan Singh when she was just 18 years old. Reflecting on his new role, Kaptan Singh shared his enthusiasm: “We have been entrusted with the task of protecting the MP, and we are very happy to take on this responsibility. The MP will feel safer with us.”
This unique arrangement underscores the trust and partnership between Sanjana Jatav and her husband, highlighting a personal and professional collaboration that is rare in Indian politics.
