Rahul Gandhi Accused Of Pushing BJP MPs, Congress Denies Allegations

NewDelhi: There is tension in Indian politics after there was a reported incident of disorder at the Parliament grounds. The BJP has accused the Congress’ Rahul Gandhi of having beaten up two of their Members of Parliament. The Congress party has refuted these allegations and labelled them as frivolous.

Home Minister Kiren Rijiju targeted Rahul Gandhi, saying that Parliament is not a wrestling ring or a place to show how clever one is. Rijiju said, “Rahul Gandhi showed physical prowess here by pushing our two MPs. But if our MPs had retaliated, what would have befallen them? Earlier, Rahul Gandhi allegedly manhandled BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput and even injured them. What was your (Rahul Gandhi’s) motive for learning karate and kung fu, to attack other MPs?

Rijiju added his sentiments on the demonstrations taking place with the premises of parliament, stating that MPs very often protest in order to display their opinion. He explained that protesters take to the streets in Congress and the INDIA alliance daily. Today those MPs of NDA protested because the Congress party, since independence, has been humiliating Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and has been spreading falsehood through this act of editing Home Minister Amit Shah’s video both inside the Parliament and in other places, Rijiju said.

The Union Minister then wondered on the legal basis under which Rahul Gandhi proceeded to shove and assault other MPs, saying, “What law in this country gave Rahul Gandhi the authority to shove his fellow MPs?” When everybody starts flexing muscles and exercising power, how would the Parliament run? He is also the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha. Will he act that way by shoving and boxing with MPs? We have shown restraint. None of the BJP-NDA MPs fight. They express their views… In a democracy it means that every man and woman has a right to voice her or his interests.
