New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a three-day visit to the United States from 21st September to attend the annual Quad summit and address the Summit of the Future at the United Nations General Assembly. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced the visit on Tuesday, highlighting key engagements during the trip.
On 21st September, Modi will participate in the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, hosted by US President Joe Biden. The summit will also feature Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Although it was India’s turn to host the Quad summit this year, India agreed to host it next year following a request from Washington.
“The leaders of the four member countries will review the progress achieved by the Quad in the last year and set the agenda for cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region to meet their development goals and aspirations,” the MEA stated.
On 22nd September, Modi will address the Indian community in New York, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose among the diaspora. The following day, he will address the Summit of the Future at the United Nations General Assembly. This summit aims to build a new international consensus on improving the present and securing the future.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders to discuss issues of mutual interest. Additionally, Modi will interact with CEOs of leading US companies to promote greater cooperation in cutting-edge areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology. The MEA emphasised that these interactions aim to foster collaborations between the two countries in these advanced sectors.
India will host the next Quad summit in 2025, as confirmed by the MEA. This decision follows a request from the US, reflecting the strong bilateral ties and mutual respect between the two nations.
