Mumbai: Many film personalities, Ajay Devgan and Ayushmann Khurrana to name a few, believe in numerology and changed the spelling of their names to attract fortune. Take the case of actress Nushrat Bharucha, who changed the spelling of her name (now has three extra letters than the original) and says the new name brought her better luck.
Recently, Nushrat gave an interview to YouTuber Shubham Mishra. When she was asked about her name change, Nushrat shared that she has always been a fan of numerology and thus, changed her name as per it. Well, I’ve got the same name, but it takes a little extra work to write. Whenever I make this kind of change, I believe a lot in numerology and have consulted many people before finalising it. Finally, somebody recommended this spelling to me.”
Nushrat added that her changed name in 2020 made a huge difference in her career. Between 2022 and 2023, Nushrat produced nine films, a feat she finds difficult to believe herself in. My schedule was three different sets in one day — first a morning shift, second a day shift, and third an evening shift. It worked well for me, and she expressed her happiness.
Discussing how she could believe in numerology while coming from a Muslim family, she stated that since childhood, she was always a part of many religious practices. She spoke of her previous practice of observing fasts on Fridays for the goddess Santoshi Mata. She also followed several other penances and prayers from other faiths.
Actress Nushrat – commonly known as Nushrat Bharucha – was changed by including an additional ‘R’ and ‘T’ in the first name and adding a ‘C’ in the surname. The name became Nushrat Bharuccha, a similar but distinct name. But she thinks this small, meaningful change has made a big difference to her success.
