Jaipur: In a remarkable incident from Ajmer, Rajasthan, a woman unexpectedly gave birth to quadruplets, astonishing even the medical staff involved. This extraordinary occurrence, typically only associated with twins, unfolded in Beawar and Ajmer, and fortunately, all four infants are thriving.
The delivery occurred on January 10 at the Rajkiya Amrit Kaur Hospital. Upon receiving the news of the quadruplet birth, the family was utterly taken aback. Thanks to the exceptional care provided by the doctors, all four babies are progressing well.
The infants were born prematurely, arriving one month before the anticipated due date. Initially, all four faced critical health challenges due to their low birth weights. The infants weighed 1.5 kg, 1.3 kg, 1.2 kg, and 1.1 kg. Due to these concerning weights, the hospital staff promptly admitted them to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) for vigilant monitoring.
Dr. Pradeep Chaudhary, the project director, elaborated on the interventions administered to the newborns. Initially, they required oxygen support, and feeding was coordinated through the hospital’s Clinical Lactation Management Centre (CLMC). Gradually, the infants’ conditions improved, allowing them to begin breathing independently while their weights began to rise.
The first and fourth infants commenced normal breastfeeding three days after delivery, the second after five days, and the third after six. Over the following month, the babies received dedicated care in the hospital and demonstrated consistent improvement.
By discharge, their weights had ascended to 1.56 kg, 1.38 kg, 1.3 kg, and 1.9 kg, respectively. The mother also experienced notable recovery during this period.
