Ayodhya: Highlighting the profound difference between ordinary human behavior and divine virtues, a recent spiritual discourse shed light on the defining quality of Lord Rama. Addressing a gathering, a prominent spiritual speaker emphasized that Lord Rama’s entire life journey, despite being marked by immense trials and tribulations, was entirely devoid of any complaints. This unparalleled acceptance of fate, the speaker noted, is exactly what elevates him to the revered status of ‘Maryada Purushottam’, the supreme and ideal human being.

Reflecting on the epic Ramayana, the discourse drew attention to several pivotal moments in the deity’s life. The speaker pointed out that when a young Rama was asked to leave his sheltered royal life to accompany Sage Vishwamitra and protect his rituals from demons, he went without a single word of hesitation.

Later, when the kingdom of Ayodhya was joyously preparing for his coronation and he was suddenly ordered to leave for a 14-year forest exile (Vanvas), he accepted the decree silently. “You will never read anywhere in the Ramayana that Lord Rama asked why his father, King Dasharatha, handed him the exile,” the speaker observed.

The discourse further highlighted the ultimate test of endurance, noting that even when Goddess Sita had to undergo the Agni Pariksha (trial by fire), Lord Rama maintained his composure and did not complain about the extreme hardships destiny had handed him.

Drawing a sharp contrast with modern human nature, the speaker remarked that ordinary people are constantly filled with grievances. “Whenever faced with difficulties, a common man immediately questions the universe, constantly asking, ‘Why did this happen to me?'” the speaker explained. Lord Rama, on the other hand, faced every harsh reality and adverse circumstance in his life without ever uttering the phrase, “Why me?”

The session concluded with a powerful message for the attendees. The speaker urged the audience to understand that the true essence of the Ramayana lies in learning how to gracefully handle life’s unexpected challenges. By abandoning the toxic habit of constant complaining and embracing circumstances with patience, ordinary individuals can strive toward the noble ideals set by Maryada Purushottam Rama.
