Bhubaneswar: While Karnakata decided to lift the weekend curfew from Friday, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal rejected the government’s proposal to ease COVID-19 restrictions.
“The weekend curfew on Saturday and Sunday is being lifted. This decision has been taken based on the experts’ report. Now, the rate of hospitalisation is about 5 per cent. In case it increases, we will re-impose the weekend curfew,” Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka told the media after a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
While cases are rising, hospitalisation is not significant in the state.
However, the night restrictions (10 pm-5 am) will continue to check the spread of the virus.

In Delhi, Baijal, however, has allowed private offices to reopen with 50 per cent capacity. He said that the restrictions in Delhi needed to remain in place till COVID-19 cases reduce and the situation improves.
Besides lifting the weekend curfew, the Delhi government had recommended the removal of an odd-even system applicable to shops in markets and malls and allowing private offices to function with 50 per cent capacity.
