Kangana Ranaut’s Film ‘Emergency’ Stuck In Controversy, Release Date Pushed Back

Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film Emergency has found itself embroiled in controversy since its trailer release, and now, the film’s release has been postponed. Initially set for a scheduled release, the film is yet to receive certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), sparking further uncertainty.

The news of the delay was shared by trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh on social media. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Adarsh confirmed that the release of Emergency has been postponed, although no official statement has been issued by Kangana Ranaut or the film’s production team.

Since the trailer’s debut on 14 August, the film has faced multiple challenges, including calls for a ban in Punjab. A petition was recently filed in the Punjab-Haryana High Court, seeking to prohibit the film’s release in Punjab, alleging that it portrayed Sikhs in a negative light. During a court hearing, the CBFC informed the court that the film had not yet been granted a certificate for release.

The CBFC also disclosed that they had received complaints about the film and were currently reviewing its content. The board mentioned that if any scenes were found to be offensive to the sentiments of the Sikh community, they might be removed before the film is certified. Speculation around the film’s potential postponement grew following these developments, which have now proven true.

On 30 August, Kangana Ranaut addressed the rumours surrounding the film’s certification in a video shared on her social media. She stated, “There are many rumours circulating that our film Emergency has received a censor certificate, but this is not true. In reality, our film was cleared, but the certification has been withheld due to numerous death threats.”

The ongoing controversy and lack of certification have left the future of Emergency uncertain. Fans and followers of Kangana Ranaut will have to wait longer for the release, as the film’s release date remains unconfirmed amidst these developments.
